The Child Center and K-8 Open House will be Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6:00 pm. Volunteers are requested to take prospective families on school tours.
The Scholastic Book Fair will take place the week of Jan. 26. Valerie Dominique is organizing the volunteers for this event. Mrs. West suggested extending the hours to before school and longer after school to make the book fair available to more families.
Wreath sales continued after the school let out for Christmas break. The final amount earned will be reported at a future meeting.
Amanda asked about the preferred location for the jog-a-thon. Maple Leaf Park worked well last year so it was agreed to hold the event there again. Planning for the jog-a-thon is underway. Sponsorship ideas were discussed.
Additional Fairview t-shirt and sweatshirt orders may be taken into January.
A question was asked about the final spending from last year’s jog-a-thon fundraiser. Whitney (via Mike) confirmed Mrs. Bratcher has about $600 remaining to spend from these funds.
SCHOOL/CHILD CENTER UPDATE
Families are inquiring about enrolling in the school for the fall. Many classes in the Child Center have a waiting list. Families are invited to attend the Open House to learn more about the school.
Literature Week will be held at the end of January. Science Fair is coming up in March. 7th and 8th graders will be traveling to Washington DC in April for 10 days.
Kevin reported on the Hour of Code sessions offered in December. Twenty kids participated in 3 difference sessions with some kids participating in more than one session. Kevin is looking into offering a Lego Robotics after school program or possibly a Coding group. He’s researching cost and options.
The Gym Floor committee is continuing to investigate poured flooring options for the gym. After comments and voting in December, this option has been selected as the preferred choice for new flooring.
The next PTF meeting will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015, starting at 6:30. Pizza (6:00) and childcare are provided. Everyone is welcome.
