The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm

Opening Prayer was led by President Jonathan Sandelin.

January Minutes were posted on website and there were no corrections or deletions.

Events

Jen shared that the T-Shirt tie dye party will be at this end of this month.  T-shirts should be washed ahead of time.

Jonathan shared that the open house went well. Several parents and a few students did tours.  There were a few follow-ups but no confirmed new students yet.  Mrs. West shared that the numbers were similar to past and that people seemed interested in the school.

Valerie shared that the book fair went well – similar numbers to past years.  Fairview will earn about $300 in books.

Mrs. West talked about communication from St. Catherine’s School.  There is discussion about a “mutual” offsite location in case of needing to vacate premises.  There could be potential issues because of child center at Fairview Christian, but our doors are open to St. Catherine’s School.  Holly is going to be a point person to work with St. Catherine’s on this.  We do have a supplied emergency response kit.

Holly discussed that she has been working with others to coming up with ideas about community outreach.  Amanda shared some ideas: experiences, wear sweatshirts and have playdates at the park, brunch, bingo night, art show.  Pastor Glenn said that she should talk with Pastor Dan about these ideas.   It may be great to do a Family community based event (ex: YMCA does a spaghetti night with bingo) to get people in the local community to see culture here.

Another idea that Amanda shared was to do a partnership with a local restaurant to do money back for eating at a local restaurant (like Flying Squirrel or Snappy Dragon, perhaps)

Could do a “Fellowship Night” – just pick an idea and put the sign out to promote it to the community.

Another person suggested potentially opening our doors to public school kids for after school care.

Mrs. West shared some incentives for new students. As a current student if you refer a new student and they enroll you get ½ of tuition for the referring student.  Also KGNW is offering ½ off tuition for Fairview for a new student (the new student buys tuition through the radio – and Fairview ultimately gets full price worth of tuition in advertising dollars).

Mrs. West shared that at the KCMS auction 2 tuitions for Fairview are going to be auctioned off – and whatever is raised Fairview will get in advertising on this station.

Kevin shared that he is happy to help with onsite events here for technology (like if we do a movie night).

Mrs. West shared that we need to make sure that the church community melds with the school and child center (so church is aware of PTF events).

Holly shared that she is going to have a “Spring fling” give away – the samples are in the works and she will share for approval.

Holly gave a CYO Update.  She shared that Lisa at St. Catherine’s has been great to work with.  Paperwork is downstairs for sports sign ups. Soccer sign-ups are in June and younger kids can participate in this sport.  Baseball is for 5th-8th and forms are in the office.  Ideas were suggested to email middle school parents, give the information to middle school teachers, and post on Facebook.

Pastor Glenn shared that it is really important to “Share” Fairview Christian School events on Facebook. By sharing we reach an exponentially large network, as compared to our community alone.

Technology

Kevin shared that he is putting a permanent projector and Wi-Fi in the gym.  He talked with teachers about needs and he is changing the wiring in the K-2 room and had a request for a projector and a whiteboard in the Frog room.  We discussed that with our current budget this could be obtainable.

Budget

Whitney gave a budget update.  We have some money that we could do some smaller upgrades around the building.  Our fundraisers have done well.

Jog-a-Thon

Amanda is preparing for the kick-off assembly for the Jog-a-Thon.  She already has 3 business sponsors. She has two Brooks Shoes Gift Certificates as prizes.  The Jog-a-thon is May 20th.

Target Fundraising

Jonathan met with the School Board about doing a playground upgrade. The School Board seemed happy with this idea.  This will likely be a multi-year project and will include bull dozing what we currently have (drainage issues) and will cost 80-200K+ to do, which means 2-5 years of fundraising.  We need to create and sustain momentum.  The PTF was in full support.  We agree that a new playground will give the school even better curb appeal.

We agreed that all Scrip proceeds will be put towards this project – and Jen is going to get the word out on that.  We agreed that jog-a-thon money will go towards this effort.

We talked about sending out a survey to see what parents are interested in seeing in a new playground.

Jonathan asked for people interested in serving on a committee for this, and: Dacia Ray, Amanda Olson, Jo McClimans, Jen Laible Deanna Gallichan, Kevin Tucker, Holly Reichmann all showed interest (some in specific projects).

Scrip

We discussed updating the scrip page and ensuring that parents have the link (like through Eagle News) to the online scrip page.

School Update

Mrs. West shared that we are about to be doing re-registration.  Pastor Glenn Shared that we have about 7-10 confirmed Kindergarteners, though we have openings in most classes.  We would like to increase enrollment in 5th grade.  We have added several children since Christmas.  The school has given three tours of the school this past week.

Amanda shared that she is going to re-stock disaster box.

Student Body

No update from Samuel

Other Business

Valerie shared that the bake sale earned $101.50.

Valerie shared the Spring Box Top Collection begins next week.

We also talked about using the Maple Leaf Blog and Park to advertise the school. Dr. C is going to get the number and PTF will potentially pay for the advertising out of our budget.

Pastor Glenn shared that we will have a new youth Pastor starting soon, Pastor Jen,  Welcome Pastor Jen!!

We talked about making sure side doors are locked when you leave – to keep building secure.
