Operation Christmas Child Update

Every autumn, Fairview Church, Christian School, and Child Center pack shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child. Last year, we packed 131 shoebox gifts; this year, we hope to pack at least as many. Information went home last Wednesday. Additional brochures and ‘Think Inside the Box’ papers are available in the office.

There are many ways to be involved…pack a box as a family, donate items for the boxes we pack as a group, and/or participate in our packing party.

If you have items to donate, or would like to donate money for us to use to purchase items, please bring it all in by Monday, November 3. We are especially in need of colored pencils, crayons, marbles, toothpaste, pads of paper, jump ropes, balls…..well, pretty much anything, really! Please check the ‘Think Inside the Box’ paper for ideas and limitations.

If your family is packing shoebox gifts, please bring them in by November 12.

If you would like to help pack shoeboxes, come to our Gift-Packing Party on Sunday, November 9, at 12:30, in the auditorium. Bring a snack to share. It is not necessary to RSVP, but I would love to know if you’re planning to attend.

Questions? Comments? Contact Tori Rochleau-Rice at torir2@juno.com.

As usual, we are also looking for $500+ to cover the shipping of our boxes. If you would like to contribute, you may write a check to Samaritan’s Purse, or you can donate on-line. If you donate on-line, please let me know, so that I can keep track. Thanks!

from the West Wing

Once again we have come through another rather devastating week; another week where a seemingly senseless act changes the lives of so many in the twinkling of an eye. So many questions; so few answers. As the days unfold, there are increasing opinions of why and still no answers. As I reflected on some of the events of the past …
