Stomach Bug

There is a nasty stomach bug going around and it’s hit our kids and the staff. It appears to start with either diarrhea and/or vomiting and lasts a day or two and they can actually still be contagious after they feel better.  We are doing our best to keep things well sanitized and enforcing washing hands more often than usual (which is pretty often). Please do not send your child to school if they have any of these symptoms and should not return until 24 hours symptom free!  Also this is also a good time to remind your child to ALWAYS wash their hands after they use the bathroom and before eating. Help us minimize the spread of the ick!!

Open House

January 28th we will be hosting  our ANNUAL Open House. This will start at 6p! This is a time that we will open our school to visiting families for a preview of classrooms and the wonderful educational program we offer at  Fairview. This would be a great opportunity for you to invite your friends to visit  the classrooms and ask questions about curriculum, activities, etc.

We do have a few PRE-K, K and middle school spaces available for next year.

AND---Don't forget about the Win-Win referral program!

Scrip Profits to go to Playground improvements.

As we begin the new year we want to be sure we are maximizing our scrip program and we need your help. The next order will be placed Tuesday morning (1/19) all orders need to be into the office or submitted online by 9a. The cards will be available for pick up by Friday (1/22)

If there is anyone that would like to help us office gals get this program running a bit more smoothly- please let us know!

Here are a few places that we have on hand.

Target, TJ Maxx/Marshalls, Old Navy/Gap, Bath and Body Work, Starbucks, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Macy's, Barnes and Noble, Movie tickets from Regal and AMC

A big thank you to those that placed orders last week - with 4 orders turned it equaled an almost $23 rebate back to the school. Keep it Up!

In Case of Snow

Winter has arrived and you never know when or if we will see the white stuff on the ground in Seattle. Here are some ways to get Fairview's snow closure information - just in case :)

1. Check your email - an email will be sent to all parents through our RenWeb program - if we do not have your current email please update in the office.

2. Visit Fairview's web site (fcsseattle.org).

3. Call 206-832-2288

4. Listen to local news - we often follow Seattle Public Schools for snow closures and will call into the major TV stations. We will not have late starts - other schools districts do this in order to insure they get all there buses out giving the roads time to improve.

We know there are many families that live more north where snow can be more of an issue - we make the call to close by what it looks like in and around Fairview. If we remain open and there is snow on the ground where you are and your route to school does not seems safe please wait until it is before leaving.
